CUSTODIANSHIP
Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requires that a custodian must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada over the age of 19.
What is a custodian?
A custodian is an individual who has been legally designated by parents/ guardians to provide care for a minor child (under the legal age of 18) while he/she studies in Canada for a temporary period of time. The custodian is responsible for representing the parents/ guardians and is expected to provide proper care and supervision to the student as required such as in time of medical emergencies. The custodian will be the official contact for the student in regard to all school matters.
All applicants must supply a notarized Custodian Declaration —which is signed by the parents or legal guardians in the country of origin, in addition to one signed by the legal custodian in Canada—stating that the legal custodian is to act in place of a parent if the parents are not in Canada. MHN will match the student with a custodian, that is a minimum of 25 years old.
Regular Custodianship Services include:
• Preparation of notarized Custodianship documents
• Assisting student with school registration, renewals, and withdrawal from school
• Arrive to school with student on the first day of school to Admissions/Registrar's office
• Find medical care/doctor's office and help with registration
• Serve as official/emergency contact for the student
• Transportation and updates during emergency (additional fees required*)
MHN will provide specialized custodianship upon requests for additional fees.
HOMESTAY
The success and well-being of our students is MHN’s priority. Our goal is to ensure that the student receives a Canadian experience and connections that will last a lifetime.
MHN provides quality Canadian and English-speaking hosts. We will provide two choices for you to choose from. All homestay hosts have been carefully selected with a background check. You will receive the name and address of the host family, along with a detailed profile.
Homestay Services include:
• MHN matched and approved homestay-family (photos, description and details of the family and home will be provided)
• Functional heating and cool or air-conditioned room
• Furnished room with window
• A bed with clean linen sheets, pillows, and blankets
• Private storage for belongings (chest/drawer/closet)
• Access to shared bathroom or private washroom*
• Desk to study or study place
• High-speed internet connection
• 3 meals a day
• Host family support, social interactions, rules and adult supervision
• Fluent-English speaking host
• Access to proximate public transportation (+/- 45 minutes from the school)
*Additional Fees may be required for specific services and private rooms.
AIRPORT PICK-UP
MHN provides airport pick-up and drop-off services. We provide a friendly driver to meet and greet you at the airport. Drivers may meet you at the arrival gate with a sign or at a predetermined pick-up spot. Hosts or custodians may also provide airport pickup and drop off services.
3 weeks prior to your arrival, please ensure that you provide:
• Your arrival date and time
• Total number of people that will accompany you (family members, friends, etc.)
• Photos and details of yourself (this should be provided in your application)
• Total number of pieces of luggage and size (small, medium, large)
Failure to provide the required information in a timely manner may result in this service being cancelled.

For students who are 18+, MHN provides house rental services. We help students locate and find house rentals (furnished or unfurnished) across Canada that are within proximity to your school.

MHN and its partners provides private tutoring services for a variety of subjects, ranging from Mathematics, sciences, French and English for all ages. We understand the difficulties and intricacies of learning English as a second language and will match you with right tutor geared towards your specific needs. Tutors will typically provide a learning plans, goals and milestones for the student.

STUDY PERMIT EXTENSIONS
If you plan to stay in Canada to continue your studies beyond the validity of your current study permit, you will need to apply to extend your study permit. You should begin the process to extend your study permit about three months before its expiry or as soon as possible. You must extend your study permit before the expiration date written on your study permit.

• Closely monitoring the student with weekly interactions through face to face or telecommuncations/video-chat
